Musi — simple music streaming CreativePeople Agency
Task
The world’s premier free music app needed a revamp. With 7 years in the App Store and 1M daily users, Musi had a head start, but required an overhaul to bring it up to date, and compete with services like Spotify and Apple Music.
Ideas and solutions
Working closely with the Musi team, our challenge was to move fast, working within the constraints of the existing design and a tight schedule, to make maximum impact with as little visible change as possible. Our research showed that the app’s main pain point was its inconsistent user interface. So the first thing we did was focus on unifying it. As for user experience, we found out that the first thing new users do in Musi is create playlists. And for many, this was far from straightforward. Right after the visual language was set and approved by the client, we dived into simplifying this, breaking the onboarding down into smaller steps and making it more gradual. The sign-up rate improved as a result, and new listeners were able to shape their music library step-by-step instead of being overwhelmed with the complexity of the whole thing.
